The Charles County Department of Recreation, Parks & Tourism, in partnership with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the State of Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR), and Maryland Historic Trust (MHT) are in the planning process of a Mallows Bay-Potomac River National Marine Sanctuary Heritage Center. This center will serve as a community resource featuring historical, cultural, and natural resources, and will serve as a gateway between the sanctuary and the public.
