Mallows Bay Park

  • Boat - a boat ramp is located within the park for small boating (shallow water) access to the Potomac River.  Nominated a National Marine Sanctuary, kayakers can explore and paddle through the WWI Ghost Fleet, the largest ship graveyard in the Northern Hemisphere, which includes historic vessels dating back to the Revolutionary War and the remains of the World War I steamships.   • Fish – fisherman can find a variety of fish in the Potomac River off of Mallows Bay, including bass and snakeheads. A tidal fishing license is required.
  • Hike – go exploring on the parks .7 mile hiking trail which also includes informational signs on the sites rich history.
  • Wildlife - Mallows Bay has been described as a bird watcher’s paradise, as well as having tremendous wildlife viewing opportunities; the park inhabits osprey, waterfowl, bald eagles, heron, and an array of marine species and mammals.
