Our new weather stations and lightning detection equipment provide real-time updates on local conditions in select parks. When lightning is detected within a 10-mile radius, a visual strobe, alert siren, and countdown timer will activate. At this time, all park activities must stop, and patrons should move to a safe area. If no additional lightning is detected for 30 minutes, an "all-clear" siren will sound, and park activities may resume based on field conditions.
