Camp FAQs

What does my child need to bring each day? Lunch, snacks, a water bottle and/or additional drinks. For sports related camps, please refer to camp description.
What does my child need to wear each day? Comfortable clothes and closed-toe athletic shoes that children can play in. Pool days, please have your child bring their bathing suit, towel, sunscreen, flip flops and, if necessary, US Coast Guard approved personal floatation device. Except for Elite Gymnastics, flip flops are only acceptable for pool trips. If cleats are needed for a sports camp, campers should also bring tennis shoes.
What is the staff to child ratio? Charles County Recreation and Park’s MD State licensed Day Camps follows the State Regulation of 1:15 adult to campers as a minimum. Specialty Camps that offer instructional lesson will maintain appropriate ratios needed for each activity.
When can I drop off and pick up my child? Camp hours of operation will vary by camp. Please refer to camp description for individual hours. Prompt pick-up is expected, and a late fee may be charged.
Does Charles County Recreation and Parks offer a discount for siblings? No, not currently.
Does Charles County Recreation and Parks offer a discount on multiple weeks of summer camp enrollment? No, not currently.
How can I register my child for summer camp? There are four easy ways to register:

Do I have to pay when I register? We are thrilled to introduce new payment plan options for select summer camps. These plans are available for all summer camps. To take advantage of this option, a minimum down payment of $50.00 per child per week is required. Payments will be automatically processed bi-weekly using a stored credit card, and all balances must be paid in full prior to June 1, 2025. Please contact the registration office with any questions regarding the payment plan option at 301-932-3470 or email us at Registration@CharlesCountyMD.gov.
What are the accepted forms of payment? Charles County Recreation and Parks accepts Visa, Mastercard, Discover, Cash, Checks, and Money Orders.
Does Charles County Recreation, Parks and Tourism offer scholarships or payment assistance programs? Charles County Recreation and Parks offers two options for assistance, a RecAssist Program and Send a Kid to Camp. Please visit: www.charlescountyparks.com/recreation/recassist to obtain more information and to apply for RecAssist. If you are interested in contributing to Send a Kid to Camp, please contact Dept. of Recreation, Parks and Tourism Registration Office at (301) 932-3470 or you can include your donation on a paper registration form.
Does my child have to attend and/or register for sessions? Our summer camps are offered in weekly sessions. You can pick and choose what week(s) work best for your child. We do not offer refunds or reimbursement for individual days of camp that are missed.
